How It Works
This extension adds a button to your browser toolbar. When you want to translate the page you're visiting, click the translate icon. The extension will also automatically detect if the language of the page you're on is different from the language you're using for your Google Chrome interface. If it does, a banner appears at the top of the page. Click the Translate button in the header so that all the text on the page appears in the new language.
Install and manage extensions
You can customize Chrome on your desktop by adding extensions from the Chrome Web Store.
Install an extension
Important: You can't add extensions while browsing in Incognito mode or as a Guest.
- Open the Chrome Web Store.
- Find and select the extension you want.
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Some extensions let you know if they need specific permissions or data. Click Add extension to confirm.
- Important: Be sure to only approve extensions that you trust.

If you're using a computer at your work or school, your organization might have blocked some extensions.

Allow extensions to read and modify site data
Some extensions require permission to read and modify site data. You can change the permissions for extensions you've added at any time.
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click Extensions.
- Click the More icon, then scroll down to "This extension can read and modify site data."
- Decide what permission to give the extension:
- When you click the extension: This setting allows the extension to access the current site only in the open tab or window. If you close the tab or window, you'll need to click the extension to turn it back on.
- On [Current site]: Allows the extension to automatically read and modify data on the current site.
- On all sites: Allow the extension to automatically read and modify data from all sites.
Add or Remove access to a specific site
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click More more tools Extensions.
- Above the extension, click Details.
- Under "Permissions," add or remove a site:
- Add: To the right of "Allowed sites," click Add.
- If you don't see this option, change "Allow this extension to read and change all your data on websites you visit" to On specific sites.
- Remove: On the right side of the site, tap Remove More.
